IceStor's unique parallel fluid circuits increase pumping efficiency and ensure extremely low pressure drop.
During the "off-peak" charge cycle, the chiller circulates a cold glycol/water solution through the IceStor tanks. The solution flows through the tanks' heat exchanger tubes (immersed in water), forming ice around each tube. When the IceStor system is fully charged, the chiller shuts off until the next cycle.
During the "on-peak" discharge cycle, the glycol/water solution is pumped through the tanks. The cooled solution is then circulated to the building load (directly or through a plate-and-frame heat exchanger).
